As a Product Owner (Payroll) Legal Declarations Belgium you are responsible for the legal declaration solutions for Belgium which Raet is currently developing. You consider yourself an expert in the field of Payroll and legal declarations (DMFA, Dimona, Fiscal Declarations) for Belgium. As a product owner, you are the linking pin between the clients/market on one hand and product management, internal stakeholders, product marketing, UX design, development, testing on the other hand. At all times, you are liaising with these stakeholders. Either to get a better understanding of required functionality and its technical complexity or to communicate the intentions you have with the application. You challenge the product manager and you engage in constructive discussion with the development team to ensure proper understanding in the team, so you know what the cost drivers are.

You help the team and the Scrum Master delivering business value and you help the business understand what our customers expect.

This function is based in Brussels (Belgium) and will include activities of internal staff based in Amersfoort (the Netherlands) and India. The working language in Raet Cloud Solutions is English but as the solution is aimed at the Belgium market we do require you to be fluent in Dutch and/or French. You are part of a team that consists of your Product Owner peers. You report into the Product Manager Payroll Belgium.

Specific responsibilities that you assume include:

  • Subject matter expert for (Payroll) legal declarations in Belgium; More specifically DMFA declaration, Fiscal Declarations and Dimona.
  • Understanding of customer needs and market trends, through client interaction and other market research;
  • Delivering input for the product vision with the Product manager;
  • Participating in Product management meetings to help define the roadmap and release planning Determining priorities;
  • Ensuring that stories are developed in line with the Definition of Ready (DOR)
  • Managing feature iteration throughout the product lifecycle; Own the Team backlog
  • Writing spot-on users stories, maintaining your backlog and having refinement meetings, to make sure your development teams knows what to do;
  • You have a significant role in quality. You are the only team member empowered to “accept” newly completed stories;
  • Managing your internal and external stakeholders. You lead the way;
  • Being a partner for product development & product management when determining our development roadmaps and determining release trains.

We are looking for a team player with great initiative and a get-it-done attitude. You must be able to handle a fast paced work environment while juggling several different tasks at the same time. Excellent organizational, communications, and multi-tasking skills are musts. You understand the need of developer.  You arrange proper team ownership together with other Product Owners.

You succeed in this role, relying upon demonstrated important experience as product owner, project lead, business analyst or similar. Some international travel is no issue for you.

Skills we look for include (ideally you possess these - or you have a demonstrated ability to acquire them fast, and excel in using/applying them):

  • 3+ years’ experience in Payroll Belgium and legal declarations, specifically in DMFA;
  • 3+ years’ experience in IT projects;
  • 3+ years’ experience in software development, preferably in web based solutions;
  • 3+ years’ experience as a Product Owner for a complex on-line or cloud based product, preferably B2B and B2C;
  • Familiar with Agile Scrum methodologies and preferably also with the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe);
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal (English, Dutch and French à at least fluent in Dutch or French and good basic skills in the other);
  • Working experience in an international business context;
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Strong leadership
