Are you passionate about IT, and want to build cool stuff that has an impact on how people work day by day? Do you get a kick out of developing state of the art software? Are you up for a real challenge to become the best Release Train Engineer

In Madrid we have already established a major tech hub and agile environment to enable us to develop a new innovative and user friendly HR platform solution that will really rock our industry. We have more than 100 software developers, UX designers and professional staff among others. We want to expand substantially over the coming years, so we are looking for committed people who believe in our long term perspective.

Finally, and ultimately most important, we are looking for team members who share our mindset & core values: Smart, Helpful, Conscious, Expert & Reliable.  Are you up for it?

We are looking for a Program Manager in software development – “Release Train Engineer”, responsible for operationally steering a software development program (+-70 FTE) that delivers quality workable software in time, scope and budget.

Within Raet, we embrace agility, and apply SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework – www.scaledagileframework.com) to ensure we scale our agile practices across our portfolio. Within SAFe, this role is described as the Release Train Engineer.

As an RTE, you steer the Agile Release Train so as to assure value delivery, you facilitate program level processes and execution, you escalate impediments and manage risk, and you help drive continuous improvement, whilst further adapting SAFe to the organization.

Responsibilities that you assume, include:

  • Manage & optimize the program’s “flow” of value, so that functionality gets implemented as swift as possible and in good quality
  • Facilitate program planning & objectives across development teams
  • Ensure proper program reporting & metrics, e.g. progress reports, burndown charts, kanban boards, predictability measures, program velocity & other performance metrics…
  • Escalate & track impediments
  • Manage program risks & interdependencies (e.g. resource bottlenecks); facilitate “Scrum of Scrums”
  • Encourage (cross-)team collaboration
  • Report status to portfolio management and release management, and act as a partner for product & portfolio management when determining our development roadmaps and determining release trains
  • Drive Continuous Improvement: improving agility, encouraging continuous integration & communities of practice, coaching in lean & agile practices…

Skills we look for, include (ideally you possess these - or you have a demonstrated ability to acquire them fast, and excel in using/applying them):

  • Grasping opportunities & challenges associated with facilitating and continuously aligning a large development program – ideally you have experience as a program manager or development manager. You know what it entails to steer towards objectives, and you thrive under pressure.
  • Solid understanding of and experience with Lean, Agile, ScrumXP. Knowledge of and/or experience with SAFe is a plus
  • Good communicator with all levels of organization (developers as well as C-level management), able to switch contexts multiple times throughout the day. Yet, you not just “say”, you also “do”.
  • You embrace “servant leadership”: listening and supporting teams in problem identification and decision-making, thinking beyond the day-to-day, empathizing with others, encouraging and supporting team and personal development, persuading rather than using authority… acting as a role model
  • You have experience in technical environments and with release management. Technical expertise is welcomed (programming languages, testing methods & techniques, basic/functional designing).
  • Excellent knowledge of English is a must.

  • Work with the best professionals in an innovative and international hub
