More specifically, we are looking for a Lead Architect who will be responsible for the all architectural aspects of an important part of our application portfolio, serving  the Public market, one of our key client segments The ideal candidate is not only a real ace architect who can deal with significant complexity and “has been there, done that”, but also someone who collaborates well with colleagues, is a go-getter with stamina, hates politics,  embraces agility, and willing to apply the SAFe framework to ensure we scale our agile practices across our portfolio. 


The role of Lead Architect holds a variety of responsibilities and required skills:

  • Being able to explain business value to the team as well as other stakeholders
  • Define the overall architecture for a product line across product boundaries
  • Lead the tech leads and system architects in the teams, in their technical direction and design/coding practices
  • Advocate solid architecture (e.g. claim development and PM attention for technical debt)
  • Facilitate the re-use of ideas, components and proven patterns
  • Ability to contribute in customer/supplier meetings
  • Drive the implementation of architectural strategy
  • Represent the solution externally (to auditors/stakeholders/presales) while responding to their needs
  • Informing requirements evolution within the context of the architectural strategy (working with Product and Portfolio management to define the roadmap)
  • Collaborate with other Lead Architects and Raet’s Chief Architect in Raet’s Architecture board, defining the architectural strategy for Raet as a whole and driving technical innovation across product lines
  • Ability to visualize and think strategically and across technologies/components
  • Establish critical non-functional requirements (NFRs) for the Public solution and enablers for our UX vision
  • Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) – in a business problem area or technical area
  • Ability to contribute in new initiatives and estimate (component) impact
  • Ability to identify and advice on tool selection based on needs
  • Ability to justify technological investments (e.g. solving technical debt, refactoring, etc.) and sell technological innovations
  • Deep domain knowledge (technical and business)
  • Representing the company in technical events (as a recognized subject matter expert)
  • Research and validate technologies (him/herself or through the team - act as a driver for this)
  • Steering cross-team dependencies that affect the release goals for the Public solution
  • Enjoy an occasional travel to the Netherlands or Spain (depending on your main location).


  • Bachelor's, Master's or Doctoral degree
  • Advanced in English speaking and writing
  • +5 year experience in a similar role
  • Advanced expertise in at least several of the following:  .NET & C#, Entity Framework, SQL, multi-threading, REST, Visual Studio
  • Experience building large-scale web services
  • Experience building UI-rich web applications and knowledge or related technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX, JSON, AngularJS)
  • Continuous Integration experience

Nice to have:

  • Experience working in a team using scrum as agile development methodology
  • Cloud development (Azure)
  • Experience with automated testing (Selenium, Specflow)
  • Distributed/remote teams experience
  • Relevant MS Certification is preferred
  • SAFe experience/knowledge
